DA is having upload glitches today. I want to show off some of the photos from my Eastern Sierra Photo trip, but they will have to wait.
My Lake Tahoe Calendars are here- perfect gift! I had them printed in bulk, as I could get them done for a lot cheaper than one at a time via DA. I could also get them with a cardboard insert and wrapped in Plastic, which makes it nicer for presents.
Drop me a line at marty.gollery@gmail.com if you want to order some!
I have found a few commercial websites that are using my images without permission- so it is time to send some invoices!

How much should I charge?
Finally, we are getting some storms! Blue sky makes for nice hiking weather, but boring photos and dry lakes. So, we still are in a drought situation, but at least things are looking a little better. Take a look at some of my recent postings in the 'Lake Tahoe' gallery to see what I have been getting- there are some really good ones in there.

I have three photos in the last issue of 'Nevada' Magazine,  one in the 'Sierra Sun' newspaper, and three in the upcoming issue of 'Tahoe Quarterly'! If you are in the area check them out!

The instagram art thief that was passing my photos off as his own has disappeared. Harassment from a number of friends surely helped. Thanks all!

Marty
Found out that several of my photos have been stolen by a guy who goes by Anthony1728 on Instagram. He is passing the off as his own.

I don't want to start putting logos across the middle of every photo, but I might have to.

What do you think?
Every year, 12 of my best Lake Tahoe Images get into a Calendar. This year promises to be the best ever! I have them made by a printer that does well with this kind of work- I print hundreds of them, so getting them printed on DA would be too expensive.

If you would like calendars for yourself or for presents, leave a note here or write me at marty.gollery@gmail.com

Cheers!
Marty
I am an actor as well, and I record audiobooks-

If you like romances, try 'Heart' by Susan Ross

If you would prefer a mystery, with the creepiest villain ever, try 'Next Move, You're Dead' by Linda Barton

Or the thriller, 'Desert Atonement'

I have two photos in the latest issue of 'The Tahoe Quarterly'. See one of my Osprey photos on Page 40, and Trees over two pages on page 140. Check it out if you get to Lake Tahoe this summer!:D (Big Grin)
Summer is really here at Lake Tahoe- record heat, and really good wildflowers! The warm temps are much nicer for the people that I photograph, although the crowds make it much harder to find private spots. I was shooting musicians on the beach and even at 9 AM it was pretty tough to get a clear shot. So, the only way to shoot is to get out VERY early in the morning or just accept the fact that you will have tourists walking through every shot.

In terms of sunsets... we have seen lots of clouds this week, but no fantastic sunsets yet! I saw some pretty good clouds last night, but nothing great.
Is anyone else having trouble posting to groups? I can't choose different folders- tried it in Chrome and in IE, but got the same trouble in both!

I am thinking of running a kickstarter campaign to fund my next book project, with Prints to reward levels of contribution, Canvas prints for the higher levels and a personal photo tour around Lake Tahoe for the highest levels. Is anyone familiar with Kickstarter, either as a contributor or as a project head? Any ideas?
20% off on prints, 30% off all Fine Art prints, 35% off canvas prints! Pretty good deal!

Wouldn't you like to have a nice print of Lake Tahoe for your wall?

;-)
I was in Washington State over the weekend, shooting at a wedding of a couple of old friends. Boy, was it beautiful! I saw bald eagles every day, including on the bus to the airport. The tulip festival was going on, and so I have lots of shots of tulips.

So, I hear what you are asking... 'where are the photos??' Well, they are coming. I shot over 1200 images, so there is a lot to go through. They will come though!!

Everyone complains around here when it snows in the Spring. It almost always snows in May, and often in June as well. Last year we had more snow in June than in January!

So, it is snowing again, and people are complaining even more than usual. I think this is because there was so little snow in the Winter. We had a lot in December, then almost nothing. A few inches at a time- hardly worth shoveling. People think that summer should be here, since we already had Spring!

I don't complain. Clear blue skies get old fast when you are a photographer. I look forward to the wildflowers, but right now? I will be happy to see more stormclouds!
Since I have not gotten enough sales to justify all the expenditures that I have made on Camera gear, I plan to sell it off on Ebay. That is where I bought most of it, anyway, so I hope to get back a lot of my investment. While I have sold a number of prints, it is not likely that I will be able to make ends meet in the foreseeable future. Projecting revenue growth, income will not meet expenses until I have reached the age of 214.

Instead, I plan to become a singing hairstylist, crooning Broadway tunes while lovely ladies ask me to curl up and dye.

Or perhaps I will join a mariachi band. I always wanted one of those big guitars. Perhaps someone on Craigslist will trade me one for a dSLR?
Congrats to the semifinalists in the 'Lara Croft reborn' contest. Sorry that I didn't win, but I knew that the competition would be tough.

Looking at a lot of these entries for the Lara Croft contest, I am surprised at how many of them show her with an ice tool. In a jungle. Does she expect to find a frozen waterfall in the jungle? I guess they do that because it looks cool- it looks like a Viper model from Black Diamond or something. Was that in the game? If I would have known, I would have gotten mine out of the basement. For a climber, it seems very strange, like if you saw someone surfing with a bike pump, or skating with a kayak paddle.
We had a great deal of snow in the Mountains back in December, but almost none in January and February. Today we had less than a foot, but people are very happy- at least we are getting something!! Clouds make for better photos, of course, although the wind is pretty biting right now. Many good photos to come soon!
